Pastoral Care Coordinator Shirley has been with HammondCare for 11 years. Currently she works in our social clubs and respite cottages, providing services to clients with dementia who are living in the community, and their families.

HammondCare cares for people of all faiths and none, tailoring our support to meet the individual needs of those we serve.

For those to whom their Christian faith is important, team members like Shirley use a variety of resources and strategies to assist the person to find peace and comfort by connecting with familiar spiritual practices and memories.

In the video below, Shirley discusses the importance of this work, and how HammondCare's Faith for Life series of books and resources are a valuable tool to connect spiritually with people living with dementia.

Resources mentioned in the video:

  • Yesterday, Today, Forever - 68 pages of vivid, reminiscent images with a collection of devotions on Psalm 23, The Lord's Prayer, Lent and Advent.
  • Joy to the World - 44 pages guiding the reader through the birth of Jesus and the Christmas story simply and clearly, supporting discovery of memories of Christmas.

The Faith for Life Series is a collection of 10 beautifully designed and accessible resources, developed specially for older people and people living dementia. To learn more or to place an order, visit our HammondCare Shop
